It’s hard to enjoy the winter when it tends to wreak havoc on our skin—dry skin and eczema flare-ups. Thankfully, mother nature gave us a few ways to mend the damage. Buy a spare bottle of olive oil, you’ll want one for your post-shower routine.

Aloe has the power to help our skin from the outside in! Cut an aloe plant leaf open for a powerful acne combat or drink aloe juice to repair the collagen and elastin in your skin. Aloe also helps soothe and protect eczema from becoming infected as it is a natural antibacterial moisturizer.

Olive oil should be your best friend in the winter! It’s moisturizing ability combined with its anti-aging antioxidants work to give your skin a youthful and hydrated glow. It’s best to apply after a shower when skin is still moist.

Like aloe, banana can help treat acne and pimples. Simply putting the banana peel on your face will reduce the inflammation. Add turmeric and honey to a mashed banana for a hydrating face mask. The mask will fight acne-causing bacteria but won’t dry your face out.

Use honey as an exfoliator for dry winter skin. Add two cups of honey to a bath, soak for 15 minutes. For the final 15 minutes add one cup of baking soda. You’ll step out with the softest skin!

Lemon essential oils make a great toner for oily skin all year round, but it is especially useful in the winter months when the cold air causes our skin to be more sensitive.
